Our
Story

Dr. Elton Tinsley is an esteemed medical professional with a career shaped by a diverse and rigorous educational background. Graduating from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1986, he began their journey with an internship in Transitional Year at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center of Chicago. His commitment to surgical excellence led them to complete residencies in Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and Howard University, from 1987 to 1993. Driven by a deep passion for plastic surgery, he further specialized through a residency at the University of Chicago from 1994 to 1996. Advancing from a background in general surgery, trauma surgery, and burn surgery, Dr. Tinsley’s extensive surgical background led him into plastic and reconstructive surgery where he evolved into a black skin researcher. To date, he acts as the Chief Medical Officer of the Black Skin Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

While he is a plastic surgeon by definition, and not a dermatologist, his knowledge of complex wounds and gastrointestinal immunology (the relationship between our gut and our immune system) have allowed him the ability to craft an awe inspiring product line that has been the love of Chicago’s south side esthetic community for decades.

Since I was about 15, I’ve been using Dr. Tinsley’s products. My best friend uses them; a college classmate from the Midwest  expressed her familiarity with the products years ago; and another childhood friend of mine was practically brimming with joy as she shared how she too belonged to a Flawless household.

I can’t say what’s more ironic — the fact that this wealth of knowledge came by way of a suggestion from our mothers..or the fact that that they were right. But it is true a privilege to elevate the impact his products have had on beauty for culturally diverse communities to a larger audience and finally place a spotlight on tactics and science that  is real.

Without even uttering a word, our skin can manage to convey such robust and clear stories. It doesn’t communicate who we are per se, but how we treat it certainly communicates who we think we are. Embracing the flawless sequence reminds us to love on our skin fiercely, protecting it with everything we have. Not because we have to, but because we deserve to.

Sincerely,

Anta Njie
